Valentine's Day 2017

I love and always have loved Valentine's Day.  I know sometimes it gets a bad wrap for being a Hallmark holiday, but after a post-Christmas/New Years lull, I am always ready for this light-hearted and PINK celebration.  My mom always made is special for us growing up with pink breakfasts and new outfits or gifts (and still does. She got me the best little gifts this year :)) so I've tried to carry that tradition on with my little family.  First up, I had a little Valentine's Day Tea Party for the girls in our family on Sunday:

Everyone brought a little treat to share, which made it so easy for me!  I made these little heart sandwiches.

The party was a success!  Kaylee loved having all of her favorite people there (although she kept saying to me, "it's okay if boys come mom.  They might like it.")

Monday we did this little craft to give to grandparents.  She is so into gluing, so it was the perfect little Valentine to make.

Valentine's Morning...when you wake up to donuts!  I got donuts for Kaylee and Gerald.  I left Gerald a little bag of treats and same with K.

I opened the fridge to a breakfast sandwich and this note, yum.

Lollipop lips were a hit.

I had a doctor's appointment, so here we are waiting in the car for Gerald.  (If the dress looks familiar, it's because it was her Christmas dress.....)

After the doctor's, we went to a favorite spot to play with puppies :).  We don't have a dog, so I really try to keep Kaylee around animals as much as possible so she's not afraid and learns how to treat them and as I have to tell her 24903482 times, "Be gentle"

After puppies and the gym, we went home to a heart scavenger hunt!  She loved this so much that I think I'll do it with even post-its or shapes.  I hid about 10 hearts around the house, and she had so much fun finding them.  Not pictured is our everything heart-shaped lunches (:

Each heart had a little message.

:)

Kaylee went to my in-laws, and Gerald and I finished up the day with a college basketball game, which is about as good as it gets for me!  We saw a really good game and ate junk food, perfection.

Hope your day was filled with LOVE!

Valentine's 2016

We had such a great Valentine's weekend.  I love that it was on a Sunday, so we were forced to celebrate all weekend long :).

Friday, Gerald and I went out for drinks with two of our best friends.  #ForgotThePics

Saturday, we did some things around the house then took Kaylee to my parents before our date night!
Kaylee had her first ever napless day (minus the ten minute drive to my parents), so this was my little companion while trying to get ready. I'm praying that this isn't the beginning of an era.
Family photo.  Kaylee got those new slippers from my mom.
She was so excited to be hanging with her peeps, especially DJ Uncle Ryan
We were kidless!  We stopped at a bar and then headed to dinner.  We had such a great time :)
Sunday morning, we exchanged gifts before Gerald went to church.
I made brunch, while Kaylee played with her new favorite toy, play-doh
Kaylee took a really long nap, and Gerald took one too.  So, I had an hour of planning my week, reading, and college basketball :)

When Kaylee woke up, Gerald, Kaylee, and I  picked up some roses and took them to my grandma.  They did lots of playing, and my gram loved her roses :)
We stopped at Gerald's parents on our way home, then I made us this Valentine's meal.  The weekend ended perfectly with "20 Years of the Bachelor."

Have a great week :)

A Little Belated Valentine's

You have your, "I hate Valentine's Day'ers," your "I don't really care about this holidayers," and your "I LOVE THIS DAY'ers."  I'm more on my own island of, "I love holidays!"  Single or taken, I've always loved Valentine's day.  Not only is there lots of pink, but it's an excuse to celebrate something.  Of course, like the "I hate Valentine's Day'ers" I agree that love should be shown every day of the calendar year.  Some of the anti-Vday material really crack me up though.
So I actually did leave early, because I did have Valentine's Day plans.  However, the lovely snow storm that I spoke about previously stopped the plan!  Gerald was supposed to make me dinner when I got home, but it was after 11 and I was exhausted from my 9 hour drive!  It's okay though; we post-poned to Monday evening.

However, Friday night we did take time to exchange our little Valentine's gifts.

I got crafty this year and typed up 52 things I love about Gerald, put them on playing cards, hole punched the cards, and combined them with the little silver ring.  Although it was time consuming, it was fun to do!  I also gave him some gummies, coffee, snoopy boxers, coffee cup, and some chocolates.

Gerald got me some pink socks, slippers, a coffee cup ALMOST identical to the one I got him LOL, and a pink shirt.  I already had the shirt, but I got it in more of a maternity size, so the one he got me will be great post-baby :).
I also got some really pretty flowers!!

Another part of my gift was him making me dinner, and it was delicious!!!
Course #1- SALAD (spinach: my fav! with Olive Garden Dressing)
Course #2- Salsa chicken, brown rice, and bread- I loved it.
 Angel Food Cake and strawberries
Making this has been our thing for a while, and it tasted especially good when eating it for Valentine's Day :)
Things even got a little crazy with some sparkling cider.  It's funny; last year we went to dinner with our friends Gab and Charlie.  Gerald and I even pre-gamed with margaritas at Don Pablos before going to a nice dinner at Monterey Bay; oh how things have changed!
