Workin' It Wednesdays

I'm so excited about this new link up!  There are so many facets of our lives that we as women and mamas work so hard at, and I love that we are going to share some of those things once a month with shay and erika !!  Thanks for the fun link-up :)

Okay, New Years Goals!!!  I actually JUST did a post about this that I probably should've saved, and you can find that here.  I basically talked about some things I want to work on for the New Year, as well as some things I did last year and continued.  First up, I'm going to share this cute little goals template that I made for my family:

It was super easy.  I just did some fancy lettering and two pictures that I copied and pasted, if you need something that looks a little fancy to keep you motivated like me :)

Some things I try to keep in mind while goal-setting:

*I think it's so important to hold yourself accountable, your family members accountable, and expect to be held accountable by your loved ones.  For example, if you REALLY want to work on your fitness this year, I think it's great to have someone you love say, "Hey! Remember we were going to hit the gym more this year, let's start and go now."

*Pick a goal that makes you happy, makes you feel good, and betters those around you.  You want to do good, AND do well.

*Lastly, don't set yourself up for failure!  I think I really find joy and success from goal-setting because I make them feasible. I feel like the most common resolutions include exercising, so If you want to exercise more, but don't really do so now, then find a 5K that scheduled for 4-5 months from now, not the marathon your city holds in a few months.

I'm so excited to see how all of you ladies work your New Years Goals!!!!

New Year Goals

Last year, I worked on doing monthly goals, which was great.  It got a little redundant, but I'm super goal-orientated in that it just works for me.  I don't think I'll do monthly goals.  If I give myself a deadline or define something as a "goal" it's motivating, for whatever reason.  I typed up a cute little family template with goals for each person in our family, as well as family and marital goals.  And it makes.me.happy.  Like stationary and pens.  We did only three per person,  so it's nothing overwhelming.  I thought I'd post a few that I couldn't fit into my three, so here are a few:
one.
Be more flexible!  I know there is going to be a time frame, probably a long one, where we aren't on a good schedule after the baby comes.  I know this, but I want to prepare for the uncertainties of learning what type of baby he will be, and figuring out our new normal.  Going with the flow more in 2017 is a big one for me!

two.
Write more.  I love blogging, but I also love writing/journaling about more, um, serious stuff, for lack of a better word?  It makes me happy, like goals and pens and stationary, and I want to do it more in 2017.  My FAVORITE writing quote is:
It was on the cover of the journal I took to Ireland (and wrote in every day while I was there) and it gives me all the feels!

three.
I'm always trying to get rid of stuff, and it often feels like we have outgrown our little home, even after we let stuff go.  So, I'd like to pick a "Declutter Day" each month.  From toys that haven't been played with to clothes I've had trouble parting with, I'd like to do this every month, and of course be intentional about what's coming in the house, too!

A few 2016 things I'm proud to have done and want to continue:
1. Kept up with exercise and eating healthy (most of the time)
2. Read lots of good books
3. Making special memories with my family

*List of three's seem to be my favorite!?

Hope your 2017 is off to a great start!!

April Goals

But first, let's take a look back at March!
1. Clean eats during the week! --- this has been pretty good, but there is room for improvement!

2. Read two books.  I have an ongoing longer book, but I want to get two light reads in, too.--YES! I read Baby Proof and Heart of the Matter both by Emily Griffin.  I recommend them both (not just because she has an awesome last name...)

3. I have a pretty good rotation for work outs, but I want to start being a runner outside as the weather gets nicer.  --Our weather has been so sporadic, snow one day, 70 the next.  On nice days we have been doing long walks or (short) runs!  I want to keep that up.

APRIL!  Hello.  You are our gateway to the real feel of summer weather, so I'm excited that you're here:)  Here are some of my goals for the month:

1. Drink 72oz of water.  I need to do a better job of drinking water.  I bought a bunch of lemons to cut up and keep in my water bottle, and I really want to up this goal each month.

2. Two books, again.  I love downtime to read :)  Would love some recommendations!

3. BASEBOARDS/spring cleaning.  I really need to do our baseboards, but what a project!  I want to do some before and afters and share any tricks that helped me.

4. Cut this amount of emails, IN HALF!  I was really good about deleting emails until I had an android that kept all of the promo ads into a different mailbox that I NEVER KNEW EXISTED hence the obscene amount of unread emails.  Time to delete, delete, delete :)
That's it for this month :)

Have a great Monday!  `

March Goals

Happy March/ Easter & St. Patrick's Day Mash up!

Quick recap of February:
1. Spring Clean.  I've been getting rid of lots of clothes, and just need to continue to de-clutter!  So far, so good :)
2. Girls' night.  I had a few different night with girlfriends, which has been so great!!
3. Have our parents over for a get-together.

Here's what I'm hoping for March:
1. Clean eats during the week!
I feel like my mornings are so chaotic that all I get in me is coffee.  I want to work on getting a good breakfast in before Kaylee wakes up and scheduling lunches too.  I plan our dinners each week but want to plan breakfast and lunch as well.
2. Read two books.  I have an ongoing longer book, but I want to get two light reads in, too.
3. I have a pretty good rotation for work outs, but I want to start being a runner outside as the weather gets nicer.

I'll review how I do at the beginning of April :)

February Goals

February is flying by, but I figured it's never too late to set some goals.  I also want to recap how I did on my January goals that I blogged about here.
1. Work out is pretty good!  I've been going to the gym and doing some at home stuff too during naptime.  Always room for improvement though :)
2.Mail two letters...CHECK!
3. Date night!  We did the movies and it was so fun!
4. I began Pillars of the Earth.  It's slow to start, but I'm liking it!

Now, onto February's goals:

1.  Spring clean, early!  I always feel like we have so much stuff, so I'd really love to declutter this month!  Work on taking a garbage bag to each room and filling it with stuff we can donate or trash :)
2. Have a girls' night--  Basketball has taken over my evenings, so I need some time with girlfriends !
3. Host a family get together.  My parents and in-laws have been SO helpful with Kaylee while I coached in the evening, so I'd love to have them over to thank them :)

I'll blog about how I do next month !

January Goals

It's really feeling like January today with a 0 degree windchill!  We are finally all wound down from the holiday festivities and ready to embark on the new year.   Such a sad day taking down all of the Christmas stuff, and I must say, out house looks so bare!  One of my goals for the year is to set monthly goals for myself.  Here are a few of my January goals:

1. Call me cliche, but I really need to get back into my work out routine!  I coach basketball, so before the holidays I had a good routine of staying after practice to work out.  I need to get back into that!  Kaylee has also been sleeping in, so I need to take advantage of that sacred time before she wakes up.  I've seen the meme below before, and it always cracks me up.

2. Mail two letters.  With cell phones and email, I feel like the art of sending mail is so rare but so appreciated.  So, this month I want to write and send two letters.

3. DATE NIGHT!  We are well overdue for a date night (I'm not counting NYE), so we need a good one this month :)
Maybe even put on some casual wedding attire?! ;)

4. Read a book.  I have started a couple good books, but nighttime reading is bad for me!  I go right to sleep.  I need to find time during the day to read more.  My dad LOVED Pillars of the Earth, so I'd love to get through that get started (It's almost a thousand pages!!)

I'll check back at the end of the month to see how I did :)
